The Kenneth L. Brunson and Stanley D. Roth Grant

The Kenneth L. Brunson and Stanley D. Roth Grant supports student research on the amphibians and reptiles of Kansas. The award currently provides $500, with the long-term goal of building an endowment to sustain it at a higher level.

Prospective awardees should submit a one-page proposal to the KHS Awards Chair (Dan Fogell). The proposal should clearly outline the purpose of the research and how the funds will be used. Recipients are expected to present the results of their funded research in a talk at a future KHS meeting.

The Brunson-Roth Award is presented annually in conjunction with the KHS Annual Meeting, with recipients selected by the KHS Awards Committee.

This award honors two remarkable Kansas herpetologists:

  • Kenneth L. Brunson (KHS member since 1980), who passed away on 2 November 2024. [See KHA Memorial]

  • Stanley D. Roth (founding KHS member in 1974), who passed away on 3 August 2024. [See KHA Memorial]
